I began my metalsmithing career in 1971 as a jewelry apprentice for a year and a half. Over these many years, I have broadened my knowledge and technique primarily through experimentation and experience, but also by association with other metalsmiths. I now create a unique assortment of jewelry, Christmas ornaments and table decorations. I am attracted to the shapes that I see in Nature, from simple curves and spirals to the many details of leaves and flowers. I find that my customers relate easily to these shapes. I enjoy making intricate sterling silver napkin rings, candle holders and table pieces. I also work in 14K gold and add precious stones and pearls to accent the designs. Custom designing jewelry, especially wedding rings, is a favorite aspect of my business. My creations range from simple rings, bracelets and earrings to more elaborate necklaces and pins. This year's collection includes one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by dogwoods, roses, camellias, and Carolina jasmine that grow in my yard in North Carolina. I hand fabricate each leaf and petal from solid sheet and wire, joining hammered parts with high temperature solders. I am a former member of the North Carolina Society of Goldsmiths and am now a member of the Village of Yesteryear, currently serving as President. The Village has approximately 85 members who jury in to show at the ten day NC State Fair every October in Raleigh, NC.
